The director and owner of the Riverrun Center is Joan Molloy Slack, who has been a professional artist and teacher for the past 25 years. The Center has been a dream for the past 10 years, with the goal of bringing teachers and students together in a creative and exciting atmosphere. Providing an exhibit area for artists' shows as well as an opportunity for a regional overview of fine art and craft is also a goal. See the course schedule for more information about the Director and teachers, and the section on River Run Pottery to learn more about Joan's work, her wood-fired pottery and sculpture, and her inspirations.

RIVERRUN CENTER FOR THE ARTS is an Arts Education Center dedicated to the teaching and appreciation of the fine arts and traditional crafts, and to providing opportunities for community involvement in arts related activities.

Our mission is:
-to provide inter-disciplinary arts events, classes, exhibits and opportunities that encourage creative thinking and expression for individuals, families, artists and teachers
-to educate children and adults in the ancient, traditional, folk arts and crafts, and contemporary fine arts, with a special focus on the ceramic arts
-to encourage life long, inter-generational learning in a positive, non-competitive atmosphere
-to provide opportunities for regional artists, performers, musicians, craftspeople, writers and educators to conduct workshops, classes, and special events
-to promote an appreciation for creative expression and fine craftsmanship through community outreach and events
-to encourage the creativity and uniqueness of each individual, as well as collaborative and community arts projects
-to provide opportunities for global understanding through courses and interaction with people from diverse cultures, focusing on their arts and crafts
-to offer learning experiences using art and the natural environment to increase awareness of the natural world, ecosystems and to encourage good stewardship of one’s place.
