Tallgass Prairie

The Midwestern prairie is rich with natural color, rythmn and grace. The grasses do not shout for attention; they simply agree with ones soul. For me, the prairies provide internal as well as external sense of place. I visit the prairies and take home a feeling of serenity. They allow such vision of life and you see it in their colors which I layer, smooth, extrude, pour, spill and drip to create movement. Prairies are a showcase for the earth's long record of life.

Koi

Termed living Jewels, koi have enchanted artists for centuries. The images of koi are my homage to mother nature. My paintings are a layered look at something I have been fascinated with and had the wits to re-create. My artwork is a motivation to reveal a new part of myself. Part of my process is meditative labor while the rest is a struggle between what is known and unknown; a balance of clarity and surprise.
